About the Blog

Behind the Name

The title of this blog, Magia e Pasta, comes from one of my favorite quotes of all time. The famous, Italian movie director, Federico Fellini once said, “la vita è una combinazione di magia e pasta” which translates to “life is a combination of magic and pasta.” I use this statement as my philosophy on life and I interpret it to mean that life is made up of wonderful, delicious meals and the little, magical moments that make up our lives. Most of us aren’t famous and don’t live lavish lifestyles, but I think it is the small details in life – a really good meal or a beautiful walk in the park – that make our time here on Earth special.

I believe these magia moments are what make the world go round and I like to write about mine and hear about yours (#magiamoment)! Mine are usually about my favorite topics:

  • Food
  • Fitness
  • Travel/Other Cultures
  • Reading books/Learning something new

What you will find on MeP

What you won’t find on MeP

  • Calorie counts. I don’t calorie count for the sole reason that it makes me obsessive and anxious. While I feel that calorie counting is very effective for those trying to lose weight, I am not trying to do so.
  • “Thinspiration”. Just like every other person alive, I compare my looks to others. However, I don’t believe that there is a perfect shape or size for everybody and I don’t want to idealize thinness simply because I don’t buy that the size of your pants dictates the health of your body or your value as a person.
  • Political commentary. I have my own set of strong political beliefs, but I don’t choose to express them on my blog. I try to keep things generally light-hearted around here and don’t consider my blog to be my political soapbox. I will answer any questions anybody asks me, but it’s not something I will bring up in my posts.

Blog Guidelines

As a reader of this blog, I encourage you to write to me (magiaepasta@gmail.com) if there is anything you want to me to discuss, answer, or research. I want my blog to be a forum for discussion and I love to hear your opinions through blog comments, Twitter, Facebook, or email! That said, I also want it to be respectful and thoughtful. If you can’t say something nice (or civil), well, you know how the rest of that goes. Any hateful comments directed towards myself, my family and friends, or my readers will be promptly deleted.

All good? Time to dig in!

That picture makes you look slightly deranged. But I ❤ you anyway 🙂
