Something Is Missing

9 Nov

It’s Friday, Friday! Ever since that song came out, it is ALWAYS in my head on  Fridays…it’s the worst, seriously.

Does anybody have exciting plans this weekend? Stef and I are hoping to catch the new James Bond movie, Skyfall, although it is TWO AND A HALF hours and I really don’t know if I have that kind of attention span. I am, however, loving the song Adele performed for the movie’s soundtrack – she is amazing!

Yesterday’s lunch was all about the veggies: spinach and tomato salad, sweet potato medallions, carrots, and an apple. I didn’t end up eating the carrots or the apple and I have packed and re-packed the same carrot and apple in my lunch for a few days now. Today, I will eat them! I definitely saved room for the Milk Duds, though – my priorities are not always in order.

I went over to Zumba class after work and I left feeling less than satisfied. The instructor on Tuesdays and Thursdays is different from the one on Wednesdays after Body Pump. While the instructor who taught yesterday is energetic and has a wonderful atmosphere in class, I just don’t get my heart rate up and don’t feel like I’m getting the cardio workout I need – especially since it’s usually my only form of cardio exercise! There is a boot camp class that my gym offers at the same time  and I have been meaning to go, so maybe I’ll have to give it a go next week. Another great incentive is so I can meet my new blog buddy, Wicked Healthy Washingtonian, who goes to my gym!

I just recently discovered her blog and to say I love it is probably the biggest understatement of the week. After I started reading, I read like, a month’s worth of posts of hers in one sitting. Her writing style is just so conversation and I feel like she’s one of my friends who is just chatting with me. Plus, she has such an inspirational story – she lost EIGHTY pounds and did it the healthy way: by eating right and getting her body moving, so she has experienced the positive effects of treating your body well first-hand. Incredible. I definitely recommend that you check out her blog – especially since she gave a shout out to me in her post yesterday 😉 Thanks for the blog love, girl! I am excited for us to meet in real life.

Back to the gym: I had a fun little surprise when I got to the gym and was changing in the locker room. After opening my bag, I pulled out my pants, shirt, socks, and shoes and realized “something is missing.” Three guesses as to what it was?

Yup. The sports bra. For any fellas that are checking this post out – this puts me in a dire situation. Ladies, you know what I’m talking about. Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do but take my Zumba class in my regular bra. Ugh, that was so NOT fun. I’m beginning to think that I should rent a locker so I can leave some extra clothes at the gym, in cases of emergency. It’s either that or just beg the people at my gym to let me leave a spare outfit with them at the front desk. Not.

Anyway, I was feeling pretty, um, sore after class and braced the freezing cold on the way home. All I wanted for dinner was something warm and that came in the form of a veggie burger.

I used two Morning Star  tomato and basil pizza burgers and put them on a toasted sandwich thin with some red leaf lettuce and ketchup/mustard/relish. No mayo. Ever. Because it’s gross.

Veggie burgers have not made an appearance in my food rotation since my sophomore year in college, but I grabbed them when I was at Trader Joe’s last week because I figured that I could put them in the freezer and have them on hand.  I always bought these particular burgers when I was in college, but I want to venture out and try another brand – any suggestions?

I’m not sure what’s going on with the heater in my house, but it always defaults to 75+ degrees, even when we try to lower it. As a result, I always wake up super warm. Enter, smoothie. I really wanted a yogurt bowl for breakfast, but I promised myself that I would make unique breakfasts every day this week. Luckily, I found a loophole: if you take all of your yogurt bowl ingredients and blend them, it becomes a smoothie, which is an entirely different meal! By the time I decided to do that, I had already made my mug of tea, so I successfully confused my body by alternating sips of smoothie and tea this morning.

I want to add a different tea into my rotation and I’m intrigued by David’s Tea, a Toronto-based tea company, because of all the raves from my favorite Canadian blogger,J Meg. I browsed their website and the choices all sound so intriguing! Caramel spice? Cherry cola?  I don’t even know where to begin!

Food For Thought: What is your favorite brand or type of tea? Have you ever tried David’s Tea? What do you recommend?

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Ahhhh stahp it with all the blog love! Thank you so much- your praise really means a lot to me 🙂 Like I said in my post- you’re blog is the shit and I love reading it now every day (you’re officially in my “blogs I read regularly rotation”). Again, thanks girl- you’re too nice. This shout out just made my night.

I’ll be joining you on the Skyfall train tomorrow night. It’ll be the first full JB movie I watch (I saw part of Casino Royale in Calc at SW, but like a good student I was preoccupied with my string project), so it’d better be worth my $11.

I can’t sit through long movies either! Anything longer than two hours is usually a no-go, unless I’ve been reassured 342543 times that it’s completely worth it. Skyfall is beginning to reach that status. Do you agree? How was it?!

Girl, you HAVE to try David’s Tea! I’m hooked! Meg sent me a bag of ginger over the summer, which I loved, but I fell head over heels for banana nut bread when I visited their store in New York. It’s the best tea I’ve ever had in my life! I can’t wait to try their new holiday flavors as well. 🙂
